AboutUs

The 5210 Kitsap initiative was launched to increase physical activity and healthy eating to reduce obesity in Kitsap County. The initiative addresses strategic priorities identified in the 2011 process, by over 50 community partners. Leading the 5210 Kitsap initiative are representatives from the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties, Kitsap Public Health District, and Harrison Medical Center. The founding members of the 5210 Kitsap initiative were: YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties, Kitsap Public Health District, Harrison Medical Center, Kitsap Mental Health Services, Naval Hospital Bremerton, Suquamish Tribe Community Health Program, Washington State Department of Early Learning, and the Kitsap County Commissioners' Office.

The vision of 5210 Kitsap is to create healthier communities by promoting healthy lifestyle choices. Modeled after a very successful community-wide program in Portland, Maine (Let's Go! Maine), our mission is to increase physical activity and healthy eating through lifestyle and community changes to improve the health of Kitsap County residents. We work in six sectors:
